This workshop is part of a weekend-intensive with the Floor part happening on Sunday 18 January. The weekend-intensive tickets are now available. The separate day tickets will open later; from 15 December onward you can message @Lokka to apply for a single day. Until then, we aim for a weekend-intensive as much as possible.
You can buy a ticket by sending a message to @Lokka
The workshop will be taught in English unless all participants speak Dutch.
Teachers
@Lokka (she/her) is an upcoming teacher and has hosted the @AlmeerseRopeJam for 4 years. As a rope switch and selftyer, she began by teaching solely from the model’s side, and is now expanding into the role of teaching rigger and selftyer. Her style is mostly improvised, supported by a strong technical foundation.
When tying with a partner, her focus is on the connection, not the rope. Rope becomes a shared language, a medium through which something intimate and magical can unfold. She ties with someone because she wants to spend time with them, the rope sort of happens to be there and with it, together they create magic. Whether standing as a model or being closer to the floor as a rigger, she enjoys the dynamics that floorwork brings her.
@Rozyl (he/him) started his rope journey early 2022 as a bottom. After learning to appreciate the flow and dynamic of one rope play, he started rigging himself. His style focuses on floorwork with a lot of movement, playing with balance and intimacy. He sees rope as an extension of his body and as a medium to let somebody feel like they are being held. More recently he has been playing around with incorporating judo movements in ropes.
As partners both in life and in rope, Lokka and Rozyl teach in a dynamic, collaborative way, frequently switching roles to offer multiple perspectives on different techniques they cover. They also share their real-time experiences from the viewpoint of the model (they prefer the judo-inspired term “uke”), creating a balanced learning environment where both sides of the rope receive equal attention and value.
Location
The venue is in Hilversum of which you will get the address of once you have bought a ticket. Parking can be a bit hard, as the reviews of the parking garage closest by are not good and better ones are at an 8 minutes walk. Hilversum Station is also 10 minutes away by foot.
When you arrive at the building, the entrance is near the bike parking. The door is locked, so someone will be awaiting you there.
We truly love the new space, it has an amazing layout. The downside however is that the space is located at the 5th floor and there is NO LIFT, making the venue quite inaccessible. The spiral staircase has some space to rest in between floors if needed.
The temperature in the space can be a bit hard to manage, so it would be wise to bring both warm and cold clothing. Mats are provided.
For whom
This workshop is intended for those that want to learn or improve their body handling skills. On this first day we focus on moving a body while on our feet, using judo-inspired movement and logic, playing with balance and making the tying session about action-reaction. The content is relevant for both riggers and models – or, as we prefer to say: Tori and Uke (the one giving and the one receiving). Its broad approach makes the workshop accessible for those who have had a beginner workshop before, but also for offering a fresh perspective on body manipulation for those with more experience.
Because the workshop is strongly influenced by our judo background, expect a lot of movement. We welcome all body types, and no advanced rope skills are required. The rope stays close to one-rope play, keeping the focus on communication through movement rather than complex patterns.
Our style of teaching uses a lot of small exercises which don't give much room for switching. It is allowed, but there won't be enough time for both people to do the exercises, so managing your own time is necessary.
Requirements
- Being able to communicate your physical abilities and emotional boundaries (r/m);
- Comfortable moving around on your feet (r/m);

Content
In this workshop we dive into how movement, timing and connection shape the dynamic. We will discuss how you can use your own body to move your tying partner. We’ll also dive into the timing of movement, recognizing the optimal moments to move them and how to play with this moment. We explore how intention sets a mood, how balance decides comfort and how tension in rope can play with intimacy.
This day will be about control without force, and developing a dialogue through rope that’s filled with play and intent. We will explore:
- Balance mechanics, off-balancing and tactical control points;
- Footwork, rotations and stepping patterns that guide or redirect movement;
- Reading signals and influencing movement through body mechanics;
- Transitions between standing and floorwork without breaking connection.
While the focus will be on the topics listed above, rope handling and safety considerations are deeply integrated throughout the day.

There are 10 tickets available for this workshop, priced at €130 per couple. There are also supporteR (€150) and supporteD (€110) tickets available. Because of the supporteR tickets, the supporteD tickets are possible.
