Jam

The jam is open to everyone, whether you’re just starting out, or you’re already more experienced. There will be a mini-workshop on a starter skill, followed by time to practice. You can also skip the mini-workshop and directly start on your own.

 

Hardpoints (including bamboo) will be available for suspension, but only make use of a hardpoint after explicit consent from @Lokka <3

 

Mini-workshop – Wrapping

At the beginning of the evening, @Lokka and @Rozyl will host a mini-workshop / peer learning group where we’ll be diving into wrapping techniques. You can participate at all levels, especially if you’re new to rope, as this gives you a strong foundation to build upon. By making this also a peer learning group, we want to encourage you to share your insights, tips and tricks as well. 

 

Wrapping is when the rope is going around something or someone without making knots or frictions. Whenever tying someone, something or yourself, you find yourself wrapping a lot and there are many ways of doing it with a lot of different techniques to it. Wrapping is the foundation for both clean, technical patterns and more improvisational, flowy rope.

 

It is easiest to participate with a partner, but many of the techniques can also be applied to selftying. If you don’t have a partner and would like to practice with someone, you’re welcome to connect with others that are also unpartnered. 

 

Location

The venue is in Hilversum of which you will get the address of once you have bought a ticket. Parking can be a bit hard, as the reviews of the parking garage closest by are not good and better ones are at an 8 minutes walk. Hilversum Station is also 10 minutes away by foot.

 

When you arrive at the building, the entrance is near the bike parking. The door is locked, so someone will be awaiting you there. 

 

We truly love the new space, it has an amazing layout. The downside however is that the space is located at the 5th floor and there is NO LIFT, making the venue quite inaccessible. The spiral staircase has some space to rest in between floors if needed.

 

The temperature in the space can be a bit hard to manage, so it would be wise to bring both warm and cold clothing. Mats are provided.

 

Throughout the evening, coffee, tea, lemonade and (vegan) snacks will be available.

Tickets

Tickets are available here from Thursday 7 May at 19:00 and are priced at €15 per ticket. There are also supporteR (€20) and supporteD (€10) tickets available. Because of the supporteR tickets, the supporteD tickets are possible.

 

In case you cannot make it anymore, it is your own responsibility to take care of your ticket.

Photos/videos are allowed under the condition that everyone in the photo/video has given their explicit consent prior to the picture being taken.

Participants of the jam are responsible for their own safety regarding their ropes and the gear they use. See these rules that apply during this event. By attending this event you agree to these rules.

 

Help! I don’t have any rope

No problem, there will be rope to borrow. Besides that, there will also be (Japanese made jute) rope of Haag from Ellipsis for sale. We only take several bundles with us, so if you want to buy more than 3 ropes, please contact us before the event.
